This beauty reached out to me with a powerful story and I was thrilled to be able to capture her vision for this shoot. Her goal was to honor her late father through a boudoir-inspired lifestyle shoot, and the energy she brought that day was amazing! Grief is an indescribable experience that affects us and changes us in so many ways. She chose to share her personal story for our blog, and I hope you’re just as inspired and moved by it as we were!

“I lost my father a year ago to Pancreatic Cancer. It happened so fast. By the time we found out what this was, he was pretty much on his way to hospice. I took care of him for as long as I could. Up until his last breath. This last year has been the hardest year of my life. Losing a parent is a feeling of just deep sadness. Something that I can not really explain. I have been learning how to live without my father. I am adjusting to the indescribable pain I have inside of my body. I know I am not the same as I was before. Some positive things; I have become more aware of my feelings, I am opening up more. And I am loving myself a little more than before.”

“Fast forward to a year later. I wanted the vibe going into the weekend of the one year anniversary of his transition to be positive. I wanted the energy to be euphoric. What would make me happy? What would bring this type of energy? Photography! I love being behind the camera. But this time I wanted to be in front of the camera. I wanted to express every piece of creative electrolyte flowing through, so that my weekend would be about me. Not about my sadness.”

“We incorporated a meaningful item of my father’s. His record player and records. Music brought him so much peace. Even in his last days. I felt him there with me. His energy and his love.”
